HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYBODY!!!

Good evening Goblins and Goobers! Welcome to my journal recordings of what happens inside my super secret laboratory...Jk. lol HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYBODY!!!

Today, since I cant really dress up or go trick or treating, I've decided to cheat the system and wear a flannel and boots and be a cowgirl and then tonight go Trick-or-Tracting!! Woop woop!! ok jk again. We aren't allowed. BUT I did wear my cowgirl outfit!

This week has been a great one! Wednesday was the annual Trunk or Treat party at the church. Sister Sherwood and I decided to dress up and decorate our trunk so we could hand out candy, but mostly Books of Mormons and pamphlets. It was definitely a success- pics to come!  I dressed up as repunzel (well.. I tried) and Sister Sherwood was an Indian aka a Lamanite! It was super fun! While eating our Chile with everyone, Our investigators Allen and Sabrina walked in with their two boys!!!!! The boys were dressed up as a rocket ship and an astronaut- SO CUTE!!! Also, our other investigator Kyle -the one from Orlando <3- came with his family too!  We met a lot of non-members and picked one up as an investigator just yesterday! It truly was such a great night!

We met with Kyle earlier this week and guess what we talked about.... Halloween Horror Nights! He says its Texas Chainsaw Massacre themed! Sounds super fun/scary.  We kept trying to talk his fiancĂ© into going one year and she said nope that she'll hang out at the Burger King in the park lol! We also talked about the Orlando City Soccer game and he said he cried at the end. He is so funny. Once we actually talked about the lesson, we focused on how we can help him progress towards baptism.  He's got a few issues, but his biggest one right now is smoking. He's starting a new job today and that's supposed to be pretty stressful, so he said he wanted to start Tuesday.  We are also going to do the Stop Smoking Program with him, but with sugar, since that's how we cope with stress too!! Ive done this before my first transfer out, and honestly it was amazing! I totally believe in the program! So we're hoping that him knowing he's not alone in his efforts will help!

This week we had our first official lesson with a girl named Kaylee. She's 20 years old and has a 2 year old girl.  We took another young mom and her 2 year old with us and they were just having the greatest time together! At first... then they started getting territorial and it was so stinkin funny to watch them bicker like little teenagers LOL! But anyways, Kaylee is so sweet.  We taught her the Restoration and right after she was so happy cause it had finally answered some of her questions about why there are so any religions everywhere and so on. We extended the baptismal invite and she accepted!!! She kept thanking us for knocking on her door that one day and answering her questions-she is so excited! And we are too!!!!

So yesterday while tracting we met a guy named Shawn.  He opened the door and was a little awkward, wouldn't look us in the eye, but continued to take our survey.  We found out very quickly that he was Catholic and he expounded on the things he believed and why, but he did so in the sweetest way.  While quoting scripture he would often tear up and silently a tear would roll down his face. We all felt the spirit so strongly. He was very spiritual and very knowledgeable.  We offered our message of the Restoration and he politely declined.  While the doctrines we believe in differ, it was a tremendous experience to have because I was reminded that if we can stay close to God and the scriptures and constantly be praying, we will have the Spirit to be with us! After we said a prayer with him, he quickly whipped out his Holy Water, put some on his finger, drew a cross on each of our foreheads, and proceeded to give both of us individual blessings... Definitely didn't expect that... but he was so sweet so its whatever. Now I can say I've been blessed by a Catholic!

In Parker there are lots of members who want to house the missionaries, so everyone is set on a 6 month rotation.  Our time with the Kings is over in just a few short weeks, BUT we will be moving into a house with a couple named the Gutheries! We got to tour their house the other day and it is beauuutiful! Brother Gutherie is the funniest guy ever! He races cars and is a pilot! Sister Gutherie is a crafty woman who works out a lot! Where we live downstairs is half a living room and half a gym with tons of equipment. It was like walking into Heaven!!! They also have two horses, one is a warm blood and the other is an Arabian. They call them the fury children. We have to learn how to feed them because we'll be taking care of them a lot while they're gone! The night we toured the place we got to feed the horses a little bit and it was so much fun! They're horses are pretty much free range, so we just whistle and after a little bit they come up to the fence for us to feed them.  They are so beautiful! Also, funny story about the Gutheries. So they both served missions at the same time and were in the MTC together. Right before they left for the field, the exchanged notes of their contact info, the day they get home/go on their first date, and a cute little saying like "I'm the good looking one" or "I'm the one with strawberry blond hair".. They're hilarious. So they didn't go on that date but just 2 years ago they met up again. Long story short they were sealed in the Gilbert Temple! THEEEEN her daughter and his son met up while passing through the area and now THEYRE SEALED IN THE TEMPLE TOO!! Its a pretty hilarious story, but they are just the cutest! We move in on November 12.

Well thats about it for this week! Our district leader called us last night and decided to start a little competition with us.  He said we have to try and reach 25 lessons this week and they will try to reach 18 (this is fair since we average 20 and they average 11).  We decided that if we win, our district leader and his companion have to ballroom dance together in front of everyone at district meeting!!!! He's a ballroom dancer so of course i have to judge his skills... lol but their price for us is yet to be decided, but i really want to see them dance so pray that we get 25 lessons this week!!!
The work continues and it is good. I feel so blessed to be here on my mission helping others while also helping myself. That's the beauty of missionary work! Dont be afraid to do it, you get blessings!!!

Anyway, I love you all and hope you have a super fantabulous extra spooky hocus pocusy Halloween tonight!!!! And a great week too!

Love always,
Sister Loyd
