Guess what my week was full of..... TRACTING!!!! WOOHOOO!!!!
Jk that wasn't all, but it sure felt like it sometimes! lol
This week was really good! After finding so many new investigators last week we were determined to keep on a roll! We didn't find 9 but we found 5 more! So that is great! Now the tricky part.. getting them to keep their appointments so we can help them progress and learn more! We had a few cancellations, reschedules, or not-homes this week. But we also had some good appointments! One of which was a family we met last week! Their names are Allen and Sabrina and they have two little boys, one named Xander and the other named Jonah. CUTE family!! So we came and taught them the Restoration and they were just chalk full of questions. As we answered them, they were so open to new thoughts! By the end of the lesson we were talking about what it was like to be a missionary and they just loved it! The mom, Sabrina, said "well you re not leaving until we're done with you!" and then proceeded to try and give us her purse or Popsicles or something! She's adorable. Anyway, they should be coming with their kids to the annual Trunk or Treat at the church this week, so stay tuned to see how that goes! Besides that it was kind of just a normal missionary week....besides the food. Oh I must tell you of the food.
It all started last Pday....
Last week during emailing our district leader came up to us to get some numbers, but then also asked us what our favorite meal and desert was. I, of course, said anything Chocolate for the desert. Well after emailing I was reminiscing on the times my family went on vacation (since you were all together) and was grateful that I as at least in the mountains, seeing fall and feeling it, was around horses, and in the cutest little town with great people, and all I was missing was a caramel apple. Well after that I couldn't stop thinking about caramel apples... So I texted our district leader that I changed my mind, and my new favorite desert was caramel apples with goodies on top. Lol.
Well fast forward a few days later to District Meeting and at the very end, our District Leader brings out a box and pulls out a bunch of caramel apples and ice cream (for Sister Sherwood)!! He gave a beautiful analogy about caramel apples and ice cream relating to missionary work and we all got our very own! It was one of the happiest days on my mission!!! Lol jk, but I was pretty happy!
Later this week sister Sherwood and I were both craving breakfast burritos, so we decided to go to a Mexican place for lunch. It was good, but a little questionable. However, the next day we had a breakfast with all the missionaries and the Stake Presidency and there they made BREAKFAST BURRITOS!!! As well as many other things, but that's really all I cared about...!
This week was a little rough from tracting so much, so one night we both said we needed a treat. We decided to get FroYo for dinner. #missionlife. But it was sooooo delicious and worth it. As we were sitting outside eating, a group of YSA people were walking on the street when they stopped and said "look, sister missionaries! Oh they're so cute!". We laughed and waved and felt like a zoo exhibit for a moment. This area is so great cause there's so many members that whenever we walk anywhere people always yell out "Hey Sisters!" and we wave back like we know them.. but we don't. Hahaha
Anyways, a member took us out to Texas Road House (I am officially a Steak lover by the way...) and the whole time they played country music in the background. Sister Sherwood and I reminisced on how we used to wear our boots and go to country concerts and line dance etc. Oh, she is also a Dixie Chicks lover. So we decided when we get home we'll be finding lots of country concerts to go to!
Anyways, if you cant tell were doing pretty great here, and its really the little things that bring much happiness. But truly the only thing that brings me JOY is the Gospel. It gives me a sense of deep peace and love that no other thing can. I am so grateful to be on a mission, doing the Lord's work, making a difference in peoples lives, and so on. I'm so grateful for the immense blessings my Heavenly Father constantly gives me. There are so many miracles we see each day, and we know we are not alone in this work! I feel like I don't ever want to come home and it scares me sometimes just to think about it, but no matter where I am or what my "title" is, I know that there are always so many blessings when we do missionary work, and I will continue to do it my whole life!
Thank you so much for keeping me up to date with everything!! I love you all so much and hope you have a great week!!
Adios!
Sister Loyd
