Hello hello hello!!!!
So good to hear from you all again, I love and miss you guys!!!
Just an update as to the flooding situation- All is well!! Shortly after that last email we got a call that a plumber was at the house and fixing it. They did and cleaned up the floor, however the carpet was still soaking wet. We called the mission office about it, seeing as we didn't want mold to grow, so they called a water extractor. They came and "extracted" the water, however it was still fairly damp and the only thing we had to dry it was our portable fan... well that has to keep us cool during the day and night, so to have it constantly pointed at the ground was a little inconvenient. The next day the carpet was still a little wet and was beginning to smell. The next day it was dry but reeked of sweaty gym shoes. We finally couldn't take it anymore so we went to the store and bought a can of air freshener and came home and unloaded it on the carpet! By the next day it was pretty much gone and we haven't had problems since! We don't know what was wrong with our pipes but i guess its fixed! Oh the perks of missionary life lol.
Alright so this week! Fun things!
Tuesday we met with a woman who lives out of our area but has specifically requested to be taught by sisters. So we got permission and went to our appointment. Her name is Jen and she is sooo sweet! She grew up in Idaho and went to our church a lot as a kid with her friends. About a year or so ago, she was at church and basically got the answer/feeling that she knew the church was true!! Shortly after though she had to move and hasn't had contact with missionaries yet... until now :) So we taught her and she agreed to everything and even accepted baptism on August 29!! She is excited and so are we!!!! Because she lives in a different area we have to delegate our efforts with finding members to fellowship her from her ward through the missionaries in that area. Very interesting situation, but the Lord cares about souls no matter the situation!
Wednesday was TEMPLE DAAAAAY!!! It was oh so very nice to go to the temple! Refreshing and renewing as always :) We went to Desert Book afterward and I got Meet the Mormons, the Bible Videos, and a CD of acoustic guitar hymns!! I've been playing them everyday and man its been so great! Its the little things lol.
Thursday was super fun!! We dedicated our whole day to running a booth on 16th St mall about Family History! What an amazing opportunity! People actually came up to us!! People from all different walks of life, but God's children none the less. We met and talked with many and taught and testified to all we could! Really really fun!
Highlights of this experience:
Sister Nielsen and I started conversations with two different people and after an hour of listening we both tried to leave but ended up talking to each others persons and were caught in another hour of listening (i say listening because we couldn't get a word in).
A guy broke his ankle in front of us and had to call an ambulance to escort him out!
We met a lot of LDS members from Utah who stuck close by and we got them to share their testimonies of Family History to people!
I'm sure there were many more but that's all i can remember! Anyway, really fun!
So a long while ago we taught a man named Jose and he was set to be baptized! Well randomly he dropped off the face of the earth and wouldn't answer our calls.. so we let him be for a time. However, we decided to randomly call him last week and he answered and was excited to hear from us!! We set up an appointment and met with him Saturday and he still wants to be baptized! Work is his biggest obstacle right now though... But he's ready!
Sunday was a great day as well! One of the guys that talked to us for an hour on 16th st came to church and really liked it!!! He wants to go to the Fort Collins Temple! Yay! Then through a series of events we picked up 2 new investigators that day!!! God is so good :) At church during the 3rd hour we actually were able to have a combined meeting with the ward to train them how they could invite their friends to the Fort Collins Temple Open House!! It went really well and we have appointments set up this week with people who have friends going and want us to prepare them for that! So fingers crossed that goes well too!
Tonight we are doing FHE again and its all on the History of Temples- from the beginning of time to now!!! It is so amazing to see how Temples are an ancient thing and after the apostasy and restoration, are now again back on the Earth! We plan on setting up a walk-through model of an ancient tabernacle so people can see an understand the changes that's been made, but also the connections that still remain! We've based it off of this talk https://www.lds.org/ ensign/2010/10/a-history-of- temples?lang=eng .
If you're not a member and don't know what exactly temples are, I invite you to read that talk and also watch this short cute video that briefly explains it! https://www.lds.org/media- library/video/topics/temples? lang=eng
I am so grateful for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for providing a way for us to learn and grow in this life at his Holy House. I'm so grateful for Joseph Smith for being that vessel to restore these sacred blessings to this Earth! I'm so grateful to have a knowledge of these things and also be a participant in these things! I love this Gospel and i love my Calling.
Well I hope you all have a great week this week!! I think of you often and miss and love you. As always, keep praying and reading the Word daily! Itll help and bless you more than you can imagine!
Love you guys soooooo very much!!!!!!
Sister Loyd
