...my 6 month mark in the field

Happy Pioneer Day everyone!!! (well it was yesterday but you know..)

Also, a HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY DELIGHTFUL DADDIO!!!!!! WOOP WOOP!!!!!
Love youuuu!!!!!

OK so this week was a good one! Full of meetings... but that's okay! Wednesday night, which was also my 6 month mark in the field, we had a temple training meeting for the Sisters.  It was very enlightening and I dint think i could stop saying "I'm so excited" the whole meeting. Seriously, I'm so excited. We have a script to memorize and have to practise enunciating it daily! We were also instructed on how to dress for it and the mission presidents wife announced, "because we want you all to look so nice, we are going to take you all on a shopping spree tomorrow!!"
I thought all my wildest dreams had just come true!!!! Until she laughed and said "just kidding!"........ not cool.

Anyway, that sweet family we just met last week with the daughter who reminds me of Lyssa let us come over again. We taught a lesson about the difference between the Power of the Holy Ghost and the Gift of the Holy Ghost using balloons (it was a big hit).  The young son who just turned 8 mentioned how he wanted this Gift!! We set a date for him to be baptized on August 20 and are now teaching him twice a week!! WOOP WOOP! However... because he is an 8 year old and his family is all members (even though they aren't active), we cant count him as a literal investigator because he is still under the direction of the Bishop.  BUT we are still going to teach him! We bring souls unto Christ no matter the age or technicalities! We are also hoping to get the family active in the church again and help them to sustain a lasting conversion this time! They are all so sweet and fun and I cant wait to see what happens!

Yesterday we had a lesson with our Jewish friend. We taught him about the Plan of Salvation! As stated before, he is an Orthodox Jew and very intent on staying that way.  The whole time we were teaching him he kept saying 'i wish i could believe it, i wish i could'... This was hard for me to hear.  I read Alma 32:27 to him, stating how if you even have a little desire to believe, let this desire work in you even until you can believe! There comes a time when the Spirit takes over and you just let it talk through you. This was the case now. I remember after reading that, bearing my testimony to him that i knew with a surety this is God's plan for him and all His children.  I could see the wheels turning in his head as he was considering all the things we had said.  We left him pondering about it and invited him to pray from the heart to ask about its truthfulness. He agreed he would.  Although we didn't get him to believe right then and there, i still felt the Spirit so strongly because I was bearing my testimony of the truthfulness of the Gospel. This solidified to me that if i cant do anything else for someone, leaving my testimony with them is more than enough.  And who knows what could happen after that! This applies to everyone! If we can do nothing else, let us rejoice in the Gospel we have been given and share it with as many of our brothers and sisters as possible!!! We all deserve to know the truth! Again, if you can do nothing else- open your mouth. Do not be afraid of what to say, just open your mouth!! The Spirit will give it to you! Have faith in Him and act.  Okay that's my invitation to you all this week ^.  I will follow up next week to see who did this and what there experience was!

Sister Nielsen is just so awesome. We have lots of fun, even while working! Tonight, for example, we are teaching Family Home Evening at the church (our new calling in the ward).  Because of Pioneer Day being yesterday, we are having a pioneer themed FHE! This calls for Trek clothes.. We called around and found someone with bonnets and aprons and skirts galore! So tonight we are dressing up as Pioneers and serving pioneer-y food to everyone while teaching! Pictures to come ðŸ˜œ

Whelp that's about it for this week! We have lots of plans for the week to come that we are so excited about, including teaching a woman who knows NO English at all- just Chinese.  We will have a translator to help us get through it :)

I appreciate your prayers, thoughts, and support so much!! I love you all and miss you guys but am so grateful to be here on the Lord's errand.  Stay strong, obedient, and faithful!!!!

Until next week,
Sister Loyd💕
