| In loving memory of my sweet Meme 1934 - 2017 |
This email may be kind of short, but I mostly want to share some things that I've learned and have been on my mind lately.
First of all- Prayer. When we are praying for an answer to something we often expect a "this-or-that" answer. One or the other. We often think the Lord has a specific plan for us and that He has the right answer to everything. While that still is true, may I offer a different perspective. Sometimes, the Lord just wants us to choose. He wants us to make a decision for ourselves and trust that He will be proud of us! He wants us to have Faith! Sometimes, the answer to our prayer is "Whatever you decide will be".
Secondly, family is THE most important thing in this world. The decision of who you choose to marry is THE biggest and most important decision you'll make, not only in this life, but for eternity. It effects you and the person you'll become. It effects who your children will become. It effects your entire posterity. Never doubt the influence of one person. They can make all the difference!!
Third- the Atonement. We can say all day how we believe in Jesus Christ and His sacrifice for us. We can know and recite His story by heart. We may have had experiences using the Atonement in the past that has given us our testimony. But it isn't until we are brought to a point in our lives when we are thrown over the edge into the depths of despair, thinking there is no way out, that we truly have to test the power of the Atonement. Grief, pain, sin, etc. can feel like it overpowers everything, but there is NEVER a place so dark that the Light of the Atonement cannot touch it. Christ truly did suffer every kind of pain and affliction. Not only did he do so in the Garden of Gethsemane, but He also experienced it in his own mortal happenings. He felt it happen to Him and He felt it happen to us. Christ is that best friend we can talk to that will make everything better. And instead of Him just relating, He actually understands- FULLY understands- because He went and is going through it with us. With His light and grace we can get through anything that comes our way. Reach out to Him, He's waiting to help us. He loves us that much.
I love my family and the Gospel of Jesus Christ more than anything. There is a reason I am giving up my time to Serve the Lord- it means that much. Love overcomes and empowers all. I love you all!
