This week was full of interesting little things. Wednesday was transfer day. We weren't being transferred but we had to go to the church to help our sisters move and also exchange our car for a truck!! (AHHHH!!!) Now a little background on the truck situation.. Only the Zone Leaders aka Elders have trucks. Sisters, if they needed 4 wheel drive, would get a Jeep. Well like I wrote about before, we traded in our jeep for a 2017 Chevy Malibu. Way nice, but would do terrible in the snow, especially since we live up and down a lot of hills! SO they made the Elders give us their truck 😎 We were SOOO excited cause we wanted the truck more than we wanted the Malibu! Well anyways, we go to transfers to exchange our car and ALL the Elders are gathered around our truck.. We let them be... but later we found out that they were writing little notes and hiding them all over our car for us to find. They weren't the nicest notes either... but they were funny. Well in the meantime, a game of Speed Ball aka my new favorite sport broke out in the parking lot, so Sister Sherwood and I joined in! I had to take off my shoes and run in socks, and I also had leggings on -I was ready to ball. So we played and played and it was so much fun! Also, I learned that I really do need an inhaler still and it actually works miracles (mom if you could send me one some day that would be great!). However, I didn't realize that but running on the hot cement with just socks would tear up my feet. Well it did.
The next day I was pretty sore from running and my feet hurt, but the work goes on! We had to go to Downtown Denver aka Home for a service project. We were asked to unload 3000 frozen turkeys at a homeless shelter! Well they boxed the turkeys 3 or 4 to a box..... let me tell you how heavy that was.... probably 50 pounds a box. I may or may not have dropped a few... but its all good, they're just extra tender now! Anyways, it was a lot of upper body work! The news crew actually came and filmed us working and got interviews with some of the missionaries, so I got to be on TV that night!!!! Well later that day it started snowing.. then it got worse and started pretty much blizzarding! It got so bad to the point we told our sisters to stay home and we had to skip dinner and go home too. It took us almost two hours to get hoe cause sooo many people were stuck on the ice in front of us or there were accidents on every road!! Thank goodness we had the truck, otherwise we could have never gotten home!
As far as our investigators go Allen and Sabrina are so cute! Sabrina called us cause shes moving so we came over to help and she was amazed that we got a truck on exactly the day she needed it! Her husband said it was probably an answer to her prayers about if the church is true. Shes actually had a lot of these answered prayers, but she doesn't really want to change or accept that there is one true church.. so keep praying for her!
Kyle is going through a rough patch so we're going to extend his baptismal date, so pray for him too!
We have a new investigator named Bernardo who is awesome! He's from Brazil! He's set to be baptized on December 10! He's a little scared that its too soon, but we know the Lord can answer his prayers in that time!
In my last area we found and taught a woman named Wanda Korkus. Well I'm happy to announce that yesterday at 12:30 she was baptized and opened the doors to Heaven!!! Her son Troy baptized her! They had to do it 4 times.... but they did it!!! It was such a sweet sweet moment. Plus seeing everybody I know and love in the City Park ward was so great.
All in all it was a good week. Discouraging things happen, appointments cancel (10 to be exact...), but I know there is always work to be done!! I'm so grateful to be here and even while in the middle of a trial, I rejoice in the fact that I have a Savior who knows and loves me. This week as we are all especially aware of the things we are grateful for, think of the unseen things that have affected your life for the better. I know that when we count our blessings one by one and then recount them, we will see God's tremendous and loving hand in our lives!! May God bless you all, and have a very Happy Thanksgiving!!!
I LOVE YOUUUUU!!!!
p.s I'm so thankful for my eternal family and friends and everyone in my life. Enjoy the Turkey!!!
Love always,
Sister Loyd 🦃🍁🍂🍴
